Minister's Visit to Cultivate
On Wednesday 5 March, the Hon Amanda Rishworth MP visited Cultivate’s Brooklyn Park kitchen. She helped staff members Josh and David make some delicious Emmaline’s Fruit Bread.
Josh and David have both transitioned from supported to open employment at Cultivate, the Bedford-backed social enterprise, where they are learning new skills, different job roles and earning higher wages.
The Minister for Social Services and the National Disability Insurance Scheme announced more funding into projects that increase the range of job opportunities and pathways in open employment for people with disability.
Investment in more training, job pathways and programs for people with disability is welcomed by Bedford Group and supports the 5-year strategy to create more choice and pathways into open employment through on-the-job coaching, transition support and the creation of Bedford-backed social enterprises.
Cultivate Food and Beverage’s mission is to have 20% of the workforce represented by people with disability and other barriers to employment, in a true all-abilities open employment workplace.
